Day 4: Let Your kingdom come
The Lord has established His throne in heaven, and His kingdom rules over all (Psalm 103:19).
“Let Your kingdom come.” (Matthew 6:10a)
In these words Jesus teaches us to long for the visible rule of God. John announced it: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 3:2).
Jesus affirmed it: “Behold, the kingdom of God is in your midst.” (Luke 17:21). Ultimately it will be universal: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign forever and ever.” (Revelation 11:15).
The petition expects a literal future when Christ returns in glory (Matthew 25:31-34) while also urging present submission to His sovereignty in daily life (Colossians 1:13).
Praying this reorients [our] priorities: we look beyond temporary concerns and invest in what is eternal (Matthew 6:33).

Let Your kingdom come, O Lord! Teach us to not just pray these words, but to truly desire Your rule and your reign in our lives and in the world around us. You have shown us in Your life and in Your teaching that Your kingdom perspective and priorities are vastly different from the power principles and structures of this earth.
Yet we stubbornly cling to the darkness, the destruction and the chaos native to humanity, all the while raging against You—blaspheming Your Name, mocking Your power, Your sovereignty, and Your goodness. And meanwhile, Your kingdom values, so widely rejected, ridiculed, and spurned, offer us the hope, the healing, and the order we so desperately desire.
But You are God, You are sovereign, and You are good, and all who rave and rant do so uselessly (Psalm 2:1 - CEB). For Your kingdom will come, and those who "quarrel with their Maker" (Isaiah 45:9) will be humbled:
By Myself I have sworn, My mouth has uttered in all integrity a word that will not be revoked:
Before Me every knee will bow; by Me every tongue will swear. They will say of Me, ‘In the Lord alone are deliverance and strength.’” All who have raged against Him will come to Him and be put to shame… Isaiah 45:23-24
Almighty, Sovereign Lord, may we bow before You now. Hallowed be Your Name. Let Your Kingdom come.
