He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).
Our Father, God of all comfort, You revealed Yourself to Moses as “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness..." (Exodus 34:6).
We call on Your compassion as we stagger under the weight of our pain and sorrow and suffering. We say like the psalmist, "From the ends of the earth I call to You, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I (Psalm 61:2).
God, even as we struggle with our own pain, our hearts cry out for the brokenhearted around us. For the hurting, the grieving, the sick, the suffering, the powerless, the helpless, the abused, the distressed. For those dealing with broken relationships, those processing bad news, those reeling from shock, those agonizing over addictions, those struggling with decisions. Oh Lord, the spectrum of troubles is so vast— we cannot possibly name them all—but You know every heart, every struggle, every pain.
We pray for peace and comfort, healing and support. We pray for strength and courage, forgiveness and restoration. We pray for freedom and resolve, wisdom and insight. We pray for the light of Your love and Your presence to fill every crack and crevice, every gap and space.
As we look at the world around us, it is easy to become overwhelmed and inert. It is easy to withdraw in mental and emotional overload and confusion. We pray for hearts of compassion and love. Help us to reach out to the broken. Let them be drawn to You as we show them Your love and care. Use us where we are to minister in Your Name and through Your strength. Thank You for Your healing mercy and grace.
