“In a desert land He found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; He guarded him as the apple of His eye, like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them aloft” (Deuteronomy 32:10-11).
Oh Father, what a beautiful picture of Your watchful care over Your children! Although these words were spoken about Your people, Israel, they reflect the heart of the same Father who today, cares for His own.
Father, You alone lead us (vs.12). You hold our hand and guide us through this barren and howling waste—more than that—You carry us. You hover over us and spread Your wings to catch us and carry us aloft.
Thank You for shielding us, for caring for us every stage of the journey, day by day, moment by moment. Thank You that "the eternal God is [our] refuge and underneath are the everlasting arms" (Deuteronomy 33:27). Thank You for the blessed peace and comfort of knowing that we are safe in You.
On Eagle's Wings
You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord
Who abide in His shadow for life
Say to the Lord, "My refuge, my rock in whom I trust!"
And He will raise you up on eagles' wings
Bear you on the breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of His hand
