Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is (Ephesians 5:15-17).
Sovereign Lord, You have promised us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you" (James 1:5).
In these times of confusion when evil is called good and good evil; when darkness is put for light and light for darkness; when bitter is put for sweet and sweet for bitter; when many are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight (Isaiah 5:20-21); we desperately need Your wisdom. We are asking, Lord God, for Your generous wisdom to be poured into our thoughts, into our actions, into our lives.
Teach us to live as wise, numbering our days, making the most of every opportunity—the most of every opportunity to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18); the most of every opportunity to do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers (Galatians 6:10).
Open our eyes today to the opportunities around us—opportunities to love the unloved, to give to the needy, to minister to the neglected, to remember the forgotten. Help us to make a difference. Let our actions point the world to a God of love.
Help us to understand what Your will is, praying as the Lord Jesus taught us, "Let Your will be done" (Matthew 6:10). Give us discernment in every dilemma, clarity in every decision. Guide us with Your Spirit. Please light our way through these dark and evil days.
