“Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill..." (Acts 17:29)
Lord God of might and majesty, In [Your] temple all cry, “Glory!” (Psalm 29:9). Help me to "be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe." (Hebrews 12:8)
Even though we are Your offspring, You are God immortal; in Your holy temple; on Your heavenly throne (Psalm 11:4); and we are mere dust (Psalm 103:14). Yet You stoop down to look on the heavens and the earth (Psalm 113:6).
Keep me, O Lord, from the pride and arrogance that would seek to redefine You "by human design or skill." Even when I do not understand, help me remember and reflect Your goodness as You reveal it in Your word and by the power of Your Holy Spirit.
