“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
Our Father in heaven, You are a God of great mercy and compassion, "abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness" (Exodus 34: 6). We praise You in the words of the psalmist, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and He helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise Him" (Psalm 28:7).
You, O Lord, are our only refuge. You are our safety, our shelter, our dwelling place, [our] shade at [our] right hand (Psalm 121:5). You satisfy [our] needs in a sun-scorched land—You strengthen [our] frame. Like a spring whose waters never fail, You help us thrive even in a year of drought—our leaves are ever-green (Isaiah 58:11; Jeremiah 17:7-8).
Your word tells us that those who know Your name trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You (Psalm 9:8). Teach us to know You. Teach us to trust You, wholly—to place our full confidence in You. Strengthen [us] with power through [Your] Spirit in [our] inner being, so that Christ may dwell in [our] hearts through faith (Ephesians 3:17).
O Lord of perfect love, help us not to fear "when heat comes." Root and establish us in the streams of Your love. Bathe us in the rivers of Your peace. Wash us in the fountains of Your grace.
Give us the staying power to remain in [Christ]—to bear much fruit to Your glory. (John 15: 8). Bless and prosper our souls. Cause our lives to flourish in the midst of drought. Make us towering oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor (Isaiah 61:3).
Like a river glorious is God’s perfect peace, Over all victorious, in its bright increase; Perfect, yet it floweth fuller every day, Perfect, yet it groweth deeper all the way.
Refrain: Stayed upon Jehovah, hearts are fully blest Finding, as He promised, perfect peace and rest.
Hidden in the hollow of His blessed hand, Never foe can follow, never traitor stand; Not a surge of worry, not a shade of care, Not a blast of hurry touch the spirit there.
Every joy or trial falleth from above, Traced upon our dial by the Sun of Love; We may trust Him fully, all for us to do; They who trust Him wholly find Him wholly true.
