Daily Affirmations - For My Good - Day 2

But You, God, see the trouble of the afflicted; You consider their grief and take it in hand. The victims commit themselves to You; You are the helper of the fatherless (Psalm 10:14).

Father of Compassion, You are the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3). You are El Roi, "the God who sees me"(Genesis 16:13). You see all creation; You sustain all humanity. And yet You see the individual—Your eyes are on the abandoned, the afflicted, the grieving, the victim, the fatherless.

Lord, You know even more than we do the devastation, the havoc, the ravages of sin in this world. You alone understand the true depths of trouble and depravity that came along with our rebellion against God—a rebellion that has continued through every generation of human existence.

In Your grace, and mercy, You stepped in, providing through Your Son, the means of reconciliation to God (2 Corinthians 5:18). You continue to extend grace and mercy, as all of creation waits to be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God (Romans 8:21).

And as You extend Your patience, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance, (2 Peter 3:9), scoffers continue to spurn Your invitation and to mock Your patience, with foolish, reckless, audacious sneers, "Where is this ‘coming’ He promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation” (2 Peter 3:4).

Far from accepting Your remedy, many continue to resist Your grace, and to ungratefully blame You for the consequences of human rebellion. Yet, in Your mercy, You continue Your kindness and Your love, redeeming all things so they work together for the good of those who love You, who have been called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28).

You continue to "see the trouble of the afflicted", to "consider their grief and take it in hand". You continue to adjudicate the cause of "victims" and to be a "helper of the fatherless."

You continue to hear our prayers and to work through Your people on behalf of the hurting the lonely, the needy and the oppressed who cry out to You. You continue to direct all things and to work them out for our good and for Your perfect purpose.

Thank You, Lord!
