Meanwhile, the people in Judah said, “The strength of the laborers is giving out, and there is so much rubble that we cannot rebuild the wall” (Nehemiah 4:10)
Our Father in heaven, You are holy, You are powerful, You are mighty. In You we find our strength; in You we find our security; in You we find our peace. The Lord gives strength to His people; the Lord blesses His people with peace (Psalm 29:11).
O Lord, You know all our struggles—the obstacles we encounter at every stage of the journey. Many times, it feels as if, like Nehemiah and the builders, we face challenges on multiple fronts. Help us to push through. When our strength gives out and we feel overwhelmed by the staggering magnitude of our circumstances, hold us up. Strengthen us. Revive our spirits and breathe encouragement into us.
Father, we pray today for the ones waylaid by voices of opposition and discouragement; the ones taunted by voices of mockery and ridicule; the ones threatened by voices of anger and negativity. Help us to stay on task. Help us not to lose focus. Help us to overcome as we look to You and "post a guard" (Nehemiah 4:9).
Lord, we pray for renewal for restoration. We lift to You broken relationships, broken families, broken schools, broken communities, broken people, broken systems. Help us. Keep us from getting lost in the ruins, disheartened by the rubble.
Make us "Repairers of Broken Walls" (Isaiah 58:12). Fill every gap, every crack, every crevice with Your healing and Your joy. Let us labor on, with Nehemiah's encouraging words in our hearts, “Don’t be afraid...Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters...and your homes” (Nehemiah 4: 14).
