Day 7: Nestle down
He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge (Psalm 91:4).
“Come then, ye tremblers, ye doubters, ye little ones, ye that think ye cannot have a part in the promise, come now, come nestle down under those great wings which seem so close to you. The wings that are lined with the feathers of the Eternal will be strong wings, as though they were bars of iron, through which no storms of trouble can ever beat; through which the enemy, though he come from hell itself, shall not be able to drive his darts”
“If I could only surely know
That all the things that tire me so
Were noticed by my Lord—
The pang that cuts me like a knife,
The lesser pains of daily strife—
What peace it would afford!
“I wonder if He really shares
In all these little human cares,
This mighty King of kings;
If He who guides through boundless space
Each blazing planet in its place
Can have the condescending grace
To mind these petty things.
“It seems to me, if sure of this,
Blent with each ill would come such bliss
That I might covet pain,
And deem whatever brought to me
The loving thought of Deity
And sense of Christ’s sweet sympathy,
Not loss, but richest gain.
“Dear Lord, my heart shall no more doubt
That Thou dost compass me about
With sympathy divine:
The love for me once crucified
Is not the love to leave my side,
But waiteth ever to divide
Each smallest care of mine.”
