Day 6: The fullness of God
I pray that… you may… know this love that surpasses knowledge— that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:16,18, 19).
Our Father in heaven, we come to You, acknowledging You as the one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all (Ephesians 4:6).
From [You] every family in heaven and on earth derives its name (Ephesians 3:15). You call us out of darkness into Your wonderful light (1 Peter 2:9), choosing us to be conformed to the image of Your Son (Romans 8:29).
In Your great mercy You found us, full of wounds and scars— the result of that massive fall from Your grace that came with human disobedience. You restored us and reconciled us to Yourself, and You began the work of emptying us of all we have inherited of sin's trouble, turmoil, and corruption— and filling us with the light of Your love and grace.
Father, Your gift of grace was free to us, but it came at the costly sacrifice of Your Son. May we never trample the Son of God underfoot, and treat as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that [sanctifies us]. May we never insult the Spirit of grace (Hebrews 10:29). Help us to live a life worthy of the calling [we] have received (Ephesians 4:1).
You started a good work in us, and You have promised to carry it on to completion (Philippians 1:6). But we encounter many difficulties along the way. We live in the midst of lies, treachery, and deceit— we live among wolves and false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. Indeed, You have warned us that it is no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:13-14).
O Lord, strengthen us with power through Your Spirit in our inner being (Ephesians 3:16). Help us to develop the strength, wisdom, and maturity where we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming (Ephesians 4:14).
Deliver us from these evils. Grow us in grace and in the knowledge of Your love that surpasses knowledge (Ephesians 3:19). Draw us, Lord, into Your fullness.
