Day 6: He gives power to the weak
What is my strength, that I should wait? And what is my end, that I should endure? Is my strength the strength of stones, Or is my flesh bronze? (Job 6:11-12 - NASB).
Father in heaven, the wisdom of Your word tells us, If you falter in the day of trouble, how small is your strength! (If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small) (Proverbs 24:10 - NIV, NKJV). But our strength is often small, and we falter and faint.
Like Your people of old, we are tempted to think in our weary hearts, "My way is hidden from the Lord, and my just claim is passed over by my God" (Isaiah 40:27 - NKJV). Or like Job we wonder if our strength and our endurance can outlast our trial or our ordeal (Job 6: 12). But Your words of reassurance remain timeless, trustworthy, and true:
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:28-31 - NKJV).
Father, help us not to be "pulled under" by the turmoil and chaos, the struggles and the hardships of this world. Give us new strength. Raise us up— above the trouble and the confusion, the burdens and the cares of this passing world. Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come… (Isaiah 35:3-4).
Teach us how to wait. Help us to soar.
