Daily Affirmations - Day 3 - Richest of Fare: God Shall Supply

Day 3: God shall supply

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19 - NKJV).

During his lifetime (September 27, 1805 - March 10, 1898), George Müller cared for over 10,000 orphans. From his establishment of the Ashley Down Orphanage in Bristol England, Müller understood that the work was an immense financial undertaking, but he was determined to trust God to provide for a mission He was directing.

In its introduction to an online publication of George Müller's autobiography, FirstLove Publications describes his faithful obedience:

The autobiography itself overflows with testimony after testimony of God's faithful provision. Here are a few short examples:

Two pounds seven shillings was needed for the orphans, but we had nothing. I had no idea how to obtain the means for dinner and for our other needs. My heart was perfectly at peace and sure of help. That afternoon I received a letter from India, written in May, with fifty pounds for the orphans.

Because so little has come in during the last days, at least three pounds was required to supply the needs of today. Not one penny, however, was in hand when the day began. In the afternoon, all of us met for prayer. . . Now observe how our kind Father helped us! This evening a sister who sells some things for us brought two pounds ten shillings sixpence. Though she did not feel well, she said she had come because it was on her heart, and she could not stay away.

George Müller did not just read words on a page. He believed God. Oh for the faith that we too, might believe and trust Him for supply!

Where’er my Savior’s hand may lead,

Whate’er my lot may be;

I will not murmur nor repine,

I’ll know ’tis well with me.

Refrain:

Though storms sweep o’er my trembling bark,

And waves around me swell;

Still this my ransomed soul shall sing,

’Tis well with me, ’tis well.

Should earthly treasures fade away,

His promise still I’ll plead;

And trust Him, for I know He will

Supply my every need.
