Daily Affirmations - Day 2 - Our God Can: A Great Deliverance

Writer: Alisa B.Alisa B.

Day 2: A great deliverance

But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance (Genesis 45:7).

Sovereign Lord, teach us to trust You. Teach us to know You, for Your word shows us that Those who know Your name trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You (Psalm 9:10).

Lord, help us to hold fast to all we know You to be— all You have revealed in Your faithfulness and Your love. You are good, You are sovereign, You are powerful, and Your mercies never fail.

You have asked us to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7 - NKJV). You have asked us to trust Your vision, for ours is limited. We see within the tiny scope of our circumstances, our experiences, our world. And we are often trapped in that space.

But You do not dismiss our fear, our pain, our grief, our loss, our challenges. You ask us to entrust them to You. You remind us that You are the God who calls forth the generations from the beginning— with the first of them and with the last. You reassure us that You are the God who makes known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come (Isaiah 41:4, 46:10).

Often, it is only with hindsight that we see Your plan more clearly. Joseph, with hindsight, was able to reassure His brothers that You had used the evil they had plotted, and the terrible circumstances he had endured, for good... to accomplish the saving of many lives (Genesis 50:20). His understanding of a good God with a flawless plan helped him to forgive those who had intended him harm.

Jesus, increase our faith. Help us to keep our eyes on You. Keep us from drowning in the winds and the waves of circumstances. Help us to trust that Your purpose will stand (Isaiah 46:10), and that in time, You will bring about a great deliverance.

I must tell Jesus all of my trials,

I cannot bear these burdens alone;

In my distress He kindly will help me,

He ever loves and cares for His own.

Refrain:

I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus!

I cannot bear my burdens alone;

I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus!

Jesus can help me, Jesus alone.

I must tell Jesus all of my troubles,

He is a kind, compassionate Friend;

If I but ask Him He will deliver,

Make of my troubles quickly an end.

Tempted and tried I need a great Savior,

One who can help my burdens to bear;

I must tell Jesus, I must tell Jesus:

He all my cares and sorrows will share.

What must I do when worldliness calls me?

What must I do when tempted to sin?

I must tell Jesus, and He will help me

Over the world the vict’ry to win.
