He breaks the power of cancelled sin; He sets the prisoner free

“Therefore, my friends, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you. Through Him everyone who believes is set free from every sin…” (Acts 13:38-39).

Prayer From Sarum Rite (11th century)

O Lord,

look mercifully on us,

and grant that we may choose the way of peace.

Rescue us from the captivity of the sins which have oppressed us,

that we may attain the dwellings of the heavenly Jerusalem;

through Jesus Christ. Amen.
