Day 2: Word of the Father
“Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles… I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles, To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house” (Isaiah 42:1, 6-7 - NKJV).
Our Father, Almighty, Sovereign God, in Your perfect wisdom and matchless grace You have willed, and purposed, and unfolded every intricate detail of Your plan to reconcile us to Yourself.
In amazing love You sent Your Elect One— Word of the Father, Covenant Promise of Your grace, delight of Your soul— to be the Servant of lowly humanity. You commissioned and anointed Him to bring light to the nations, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the prison, and to release those who sit in darkness from the dungeons of sin, death, and destruction (Isaiah 42:1-7, 61:1-3).
O Lord, may we truly understand and appreciate Your precious gift. Deliver us from blind eyes that never perceive, deaf ears that never understand, calloused hearts that never receive Your grace (Isaiah 6:9-10).
Teach us to come, to behold, to worship, to adore.
Oh, come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant,
Oh, come ye, oh, come ye, to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him, born the King of angels;
Refrain:
Oh, come, let us adore Him, oh, come, let us adore Him,
Oh, come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord.
Sing, choirs of angels, sing in exultation;
Oh, sing, all ye citizens of heav’n above!
Glory to God, all glory in the highest;
Yea, Lord, we greet Thee, born this happy morning;
Jesus, to Thee be all glory giv’n;
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing;
