When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; He brought me into a spacious place (Psalm:118:5).
Our Father in heaven, Savior, Deliverer, You are our shield, and our strength. We give You thanks, O Lord, for [You] are good; [Your] love endures forever (Psalm 118:1).
It is easy, Lord, to remember Your unfailing love when our circumstances are favorable—when the way ahead is clear, but oh how we lose sight of Your goodness when we are hard pressed by the troubles of this life!
Father You know every heart. You know every joy, every fear, every worry, every tear. The Teacher wisely said, "Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy" (Proverbs 14:10); but Your eyes see what no other human can.
Thank You that You walk with us, O Lord! You see our struggles through the twisting paths and the "narrow spaces"—when we feel battered mercilessly against the sides of the rocks. You see the "bruising" and the "scraping", the ripping and the tearing. And You hear us when we cry out to You.
Help us to persevere. Increase our faith. Help us to remember that Your goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives. Help us to hold on, looking to Your unfailing love, crying out for Your deliverance, until You bring us into a spacious place.
